Join us for morning conversation with Representative Betty McCollum and Independent Sector to discuss the Nonprofit SEAT Act. The event will feature remarks from Rep. McCollum, Independent Sector’s new CEO Dr. Akilah Watkins, and MCN’s executive director, Nonoko Sato, on why this legislation is important and why nonprofits should have a seat at the federal table. There will be time for live questions from audience members.

The Nonprofit SEAT was introduced by Reps. Betty McCollum and Nancy Mace earlier this year and the legislation would ensure that nonprofit expertise is at the table by implementing mechanisms that leverage the mission, knowledge, and impact of nonprofits to help government and the nonprofit sector work together effectively in pursuit of shared goals. The legislation also calls for releasing quarterly economic data on the nonprofit sector in the same way as other industries, reducing paperwork for nonprofits to register and fundraise in multiple states, increasing access to national service, and streamlining federal grant processes.
