2020 Member Dues Schedule

As a new year approaches, the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits (MCN) would like to extend our thanks to members like you for helping make 2019 one the most memorable in our organization’s history. As we often say, MCN is only as strong as the individuals and organizations that make up our membership, and because of you, we remain the largest state association of nonprofits in the nation.

We also wanted to take this moment to let your organization know about a new dues schedule set to go into effect on January 1, 2020. Our first change in dues levels since 2016, the modest increases will allow MCN to better serve nonprofits through our educational offerings, public policy work, trend-centric sector research, resource creation, and member benefits designed to save you time and money.

Prior to arriving at the current dues schedule, MCN engaged in thoughtful review of our member dues levels of offerings, employing our Equity framework to better understand how existing dues levels and benefits impact our members, as well as what potential changes to this structure might mean for members in Minnesota and beyond.

How exactly does membership support MCN?

It's no secret that MCN members are the life-blood of all that we do to inform, promote, connect, and strengthen individual nonprofits and the nonprofit sector.

Through member dues, our members provide invaluable support to every aspect of MCN's work, helping us expand our educational offerings (as well as keep them affordable), conduct essential sector research to lift up all nonprofits, and connect nonprofits with the people and resources they need to strengthen their organizations and move their missions forward. Additionally, members provide invaluable support to a wide array of public policy initiatives in which MCN and the Minnesota Budget Project engage on behalf of the nonprofit sector and the communities they serve each year.

What is the value of MCN membership for your organization?

Nonprofit membership with MCN is so much more than a dollar-value proposition. That said, we know that nonprofits need to be thoughtful about how they best make use of the resources they have available. MCN works hard to continually add to and improve our existing membership benefits in an effort to ensure that our members receive the best return possible on their dues commitment.

As an active member, you have access to discounts on over 150 educational offerings, valuable resources and publications, the largest nonprofit-specific job board in Minnesota, and much more. To see a detailed list of available member benefits, please visit our nonprofit and associate membership pages.

How much of a dues increase can your nonprofit expect?

For many organizations, they may see a modest increase or no increase at all. For example, organizations with budgets of $50,000 or less, will still remain at the $50 dues level. All other member levels can expect to see modest increases of between $25 for organizations with small- to mid-sized budgets and $100-$150 for the very largest of organizations.

*MCN formerly had one dues category ($50) for nonprofits with budgets between $0 and $99,999. Starting January 1, 2020, we will be splitting that into two groups, with the smaller budget range remaining at the $50 dues level.

**Individual/jobseeker associate membership will receive regular member discounts on events and publications, as well as a free copy of MCN's quarterly print newsletter. Associate members at this level will not receive discounts on advertising, exhibits, or mailing list rentals and will not have access to a listing on the Nonprofit SpeciaLIST business directory.

Want to renew for 2020 early at 2019 rates?

Through the end of 2019, MCN is offering current members the ability to renew early for 2020 at 2019 dues levels. Simply complete and return the enclosed membership form prior to December 31, 2019, and our membership team will ensure that your next year’s membership is renewed at current dues levels.
