Speaker Information
Courtney Gerber, program director with the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits, provides strategic vision for the organization's educational programming. She is committed to ensuring this work is a human-centered process and happens in partnership with nonprofit workers and their aligned communities with an equity lens. The majority of Courtney’s 20 years in the nonprofit sector has focused on the arts, where she has led the creation of educational and interpretive platforms in museums. Before joining MCN in 2020, Courtney was curator of learning and engagement at the Minnesota Museum of American Art (the M). Prior to her work at the M, Courtney consulted with Twin Cities-based nonprofits on audience engagement and fundraising strategies, served on the board of directors for myHealth for Teens and Young Adults, and was associate director of Learning Initiatives at the Walker Art Center, where she co-founded Contemporary Journeys, a program for people with Alzheimer’s and other dementias and their care partners. Courtney holds a B.A. in art history from Lawrence University, and an M.A. in art history and museum studies from Tufts University, and participated in the Getty Leadership Institute’s NextGen program.
Sondra Reis, director of e-learning at the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits, is an experienced nonprofit executive with over 20 years in leadership and governance roles for nationally-recognized organizations. Sondra brings a depth of knowledge to her role in diverse aspects of nonprofit management, including financial management, human resources, and strategic alliances. Drawing on her years of program and leadership experience, Sondra has taken the lead in identifying the strategies necessary to launch a successful e-learning program at MCN. In developing the plan, she’s consulted with membership organizations across the nation, delved into e-learning industry reports, and gathered info at several national e-learning conferences. An avid lifelong learner, she has also been drawing upon recent pedagogical research to design MCN’s initial e-learning offerings. A graduate of Case Western Reserve University with a M.A. of nonprofit organization, she is a member of the eLearning Guild and American Society of Association Executives and has served on the boards of Nonprofits Assistance Fund and LegalCORPS.
