Every legislative session is a time for nonprofits to show up, build relationships, and use our voices as a powerful catalyst for change.
Session Lineup is a not-to-be-missed event where nonprofits hear directly from the Governor’s office and legislators as they share their priorities for the upcoming session, identify issues they think will dominate the debate, and hear from you about issues of interest to the nonprofit sector. There will be time for participants to ask their own questions of the legislators.
Confirmed speakers include:
- Governor Tim Walz
- Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan
- House Assistant Minority Leader Dave Baker, parts of Carver County, McLeod County, and Sibley County (R)
- Representative Ruth Richardson, Eagan & Mendota Heights (D)
- Senate Assistant Majority Leader Mary Kunesh, New Brighton (D)
- Senator Jim Abeler, Anoka & Coon Rapids (R)
Session Lineup will also feature the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits and Minnesota Budget Project public policy teams sharing why right now is an imperative for nonprofits to work together, to share the stories and experiences of people and communities across the state, and to educate decision-makers on why they must continue to fund the indispensable work we all do in our communities. In 2023, Minnesota policymakers must agree on a two-year state budget, invest in programs that will support our fellow Minnesotans, and decide on how to use our state’s large, projected revenue surplus. We’ll talk about how nonprofits can unite to ensure the right investments in our communities and make the case for funding crucial public investments.
Join us as we share in the opportunity to connect with lawmakers at the beginning of the legislative session.
