In the context of race and social justice work, an accomplice is someone who assists others in creating a space of inclusion, equity, and safety for all, often at the risk of their own social and/or professional standing and physical well-being. We will discuss how to move yourself from an Ally of LGBTQ+ people to an Accomplice of LGBTQ+ people.

Jeni Kolstad is a clinical social worker specializing in mental health therapy for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer individuals. Jeni is the owner of Pride Counseling Services, which started in 2021 when Jeni branched out on her own after identifying a lack of resources for LGBTQ+ people in the greater Mankato area. Her vision is to have affirming mental health services where clients feel welcome and accepted, just as they are.
Jeni has worked at the Rural AIDS Action Network providing case management to people living with HIV/AIDS and has stayed active in the community working towards the end of HIV/AIDS by participating in the Red Ribbon Ride for many years. She has also worked at all the major healthcare organizations in Mankato, along with a homeless shelter in the area. She was the executive director at South Central MN Pride, the organization that puts on local LGBTQ+ events including the annual PrideFest in Mankato.
