Every legislative session is a time for nonprofits to show up, build relationships, and use our voices as a powerful catalyst for change.
Session Lineup is a not-to-be-missed event where nonprofits hear directly from the Governor’s office and legislative caucus leaders as they share their priorities for the upcoming session, identify issues they think will dominate the debate, and hear from you about issues of interest to the nonprofit sector. There will be time for participants to ask their own questions of the legislators, so come ready to unmute when called on or put a question in writing in the chat!
Invited speakers include:
- Speaker Melissa Hortman, confirmed
- House Minority Leader Kurt Daudt
- Senate Majority Leader Paul Gazelka
- Senate Minority Leader Susan Kent, confirmed
- Governor Tim Walz and Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan
Session Lineup will also feature the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits and Minnesota Budget Project public policy teams sharing why right now is an imperative for nonprofits to work together, to share the stories and experiences of people and communities across the state, and to educate decision-makers on why they must continue to fund the indispensable work we all do in our communities.
In 2021, Minnesota policymakers must take action to respond to the worst pandemic of our lifetime, a crippling economic crisis, and long overdue awakening on racial inequality. We’ll talk briefly about how nonprofits can be united against harmful budget cuts and make the case for raising the revenues needed to fund crucial public investments.
Join us as we share in the opportunity to connect with lawmakers at the beginning of the legislative session.
A Greater Minnesota Session Lineup event will be taking place on Friday, January 15, offering nonprofits outside of the Twin Cities metro area an opportunity to hear from legislators serving Greater Minnesota.
