Mastering your supervision helps create strong employee engagement, high staff morale, and great functioning teams. Lisa Negstad and Debbie Okerlund are teaming up with MCN to offer monthly one-hour virtual supervisor coaching lab sessions to help you master your supervisor skills. Each session is on the third Thursday of the month from July to December 2020 from 2 - 3 p.m. Central Time (with the exception of November which is on the second Thursday).
Each session will center on a specific supervision topic and will include a mix of teaching and interaction. These labs will allow you to immediately apply skills or techniques to your work situation. They are geared towards people who are new to supervision as well as those who want ongoing content to renew their supervision practices. The labs are also relevant for those who supervise volunteers.

July 16 from 2 to 3 p.m. CT – Shifting from Boss to Coach: Listening
Increase your awareness of the different levels of listening; learn how to develop engaged listening skills to connect, increase trust and improve your conversations with staff.
August 20 from 2 to 3 p.m. CT – Creating High Functioning Teams
Increase your understanding of what makes an effective team and learn practical ways to improve shared leadership within a team.
September 17 from 2 to 3 p.m. CT – Shifting from Boss to Coach: Power of Inquiry
Learn useful “drill down questions” and simple strategies to increase staff ownership and confidence in problem solving, tackling challenges and exploring opportunities.
October 15 from 2 to 3 p.m. CT – Supervising Former Peers
Explore the challenges of managing former peers and learn ways to successfully develop a new relationship.
November 19 from 2 to 3 p.m. CT – Delivering Developmental Feedback
Learn and apply a 5 step process to giving feedback for performance, explore strategies to reduce your dread and ensure feedback conversations are successful.
December 17 from 2 to 3 p.m. CT – Performance Evaluation to Performance Learning
Learn about the shift away from annual performance evaluations to ongoing learning conversations. Gain insight into approaches that increase employee performance.
The registration price includes all six sessions.
These sessions are hosted in Adobe Connect. You will need a computer with a reliable high-speed internet connection to participate. (While Adobe Connect does have a mobile app, its functionality is limited and does not support all the engagement tools that we use. Therefore, we do not recommend using a smartphone or tablet to view these sessions.)
Audio is available via your computer or your phone; choose the audio connection that provides you with the best sound quality. Please note: Using your computer for audio can sometimes negatively affect your experience, particularly if your Wi-Fi signal is not strong or your broadband connection is slow. Will the session be recorded? Because of the highly interactive nature of this training, which will include ongoing conversation via chat and polls, it will not be recorded.
Can registrations be shared? To achieve the best possible learning outcomes during this training, each participant needs to have their own connection to the virtual classroom, which means registrations can't be shared. Participants will be actively engaging with the trainer via chat and polls, and thus each needs to have their own keyboard, computer, and connection to the training.

She partners with nonprofit executives, managers, and educators to navigate challenges and grow their leadership, designs and facilitates peer-coaching groups, and conducts trainings on coaching skills, transformational communication, and team facilitation. Debbie has 25-years’ experience as a leader and manager including 14 years as a nonprofit executive director. She is a certified practitioner in Conversational Intelligence® for Coaches, Peer Coaching Group Facilitation and the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator®. Debbie completed advanced training with the Thomas Leonard Graduate School of Coaching and the Coaches Training Institute, and has a B.A. from the University of Wisconsin.
