Effectively carrying out a supervisor role is more "art" than science. Often, managers are left on their own to try and figure out how to implement their supervisor duties. Yet skilled supervisors are the primary extrinsic factor that creates strong employee engagement and performance. This highly interactive virtual training provides participants with immediately implementable tools and strategies.
This workshop is one of MCN’s most popular trainings and consistently receives high evaluations. Previously only available as a six-hour in-person training, we are now also offering it as a virtual training spread over three two-hour sessions. You will receive with tools and ideas that you can immediately implement.

Note: We also strongly recommend you take Practical Leadership 2.0: Supervising for Team Engagement. While no material is repeated between the two courses, the curriculum of Practical Leadership 1.0 and 2.0 complements each other.

This training is hosted in Adobe Connect. You will need a computer with a reliable high-speed internet connection to participate in the training. (While Adobe Connect does have a mobile app, its functionality is limited and does not support all the engagement tools that we use during virtual trainings. Therefore, we do not recommend using a smartphone or tablet to view the training.)
Audio is available via your computer or your phone; choose the audio connection that provides you with the best sound quality. Please note: Using your computer for audio can sometimes negatively affect your experience, particularly if your Wi-Fi signal is not strong or your broadband connection is slow. Therefore, we highly recommend that you have access to a phone which can serve as a back-up audio method during the training. We cannot issue refund or reschedule a training for you if you are not prepared with a back-up audio method (phone).

What if I have a conflict with one of the three parts? Each session builds upon the previous session. Therefore, if you have a conflict with one or more of the parts, we recommend not registering for this training.
Will the session be recorded? Because of the highly interactive nature of this training, which will include ongoing conversation via chat and polls, it will not be recorded.
Can registrations be shared? To achieve the best possible learning outcomes during this training, each participant needs to have their own connection to the virtual classroom, which means registrations can't be shared. Participants will be actively engaging with the trainer via chat and polls, and thus each needs to have their own keyboard, computer, and connection to the training.
About the trainer
Lisa Negstad is a nonprofit strategist, leadership coach, and organizational-development advisor with diverse clientele in the nonprofit, philanthropic and public sectors. Believing anyone can be a leader, Lisa lives in two worlds: traditional hierarchies, where she helps managers excel in their role, and collective teams, where she helps groups improve their shared leadership skills. Bridging cultures to empower others has been at the heart of Lisa's career - both through her international NGO work and now with Negstad Consulting. Lisa has an M.B.A. from Yale and a B.A. in psychology from Luther College. Lisa has directly supervised over 70 individuals in various types of departments and organizations.
