COVID-19: What Nonprofits Need to Know

At the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits (MCN), we understand the continually evolving COVID-19 pandemic has been impacting nonprofits and the communities we serve in myriad ways, including interruption of programs or events, staffing stresses, increased demand for services/support from your clients and communities, and budgetary implications related to all the above.

For over 30 years, MCN’s role has been to support our nonprofit members in achieving their charitable missions. Right now, we realize that much of your work may look different than how it has looked in the past. Despite these changes, our priorities around keeping Minnesota nonprofits and communities safe and healthy remain the same.

With this in mind, we will continue to provide updates as to how our work will be changing in the coming months, as well as resources that may help you navigate the issues your nonprofit may currently be facing.

In the months since vaccine availability increased, nonprofit leaders has been wrestling with the question of how to effectively and safely “re-open” their nonprofit. What is the best way to fully resume daily public-facing operations in a way that gives your nonprofit its best chance at success and sustainability, while also implementing thoughtful health protections for employees, clients, and the broader communities you serve?

As a nonprofit state association, MCN believes in providing a safe, healthy environment for our staff, members, event attendees, and guests. With that in mind, our organization has adopted a policy mandating staff-wide COVID-19 vaccination as a condition of employment and has gathered resources, tools, and templates that may be of use as your organization develops its own policy.
