Visiting the Minnesota State Capitol Complex


The Capitol is open for the 2017 session while construction continues in some areas of the building. The Capitol has been undergoing a comprehensive preservation effort since 2013, the first since it opened in 1905. The project will be fully complete, and a public Grand Opening celebration held, in August 2017. 

Legislative activities are back to their original locations

  • Legislative floor sessions will take place in the Capitol building. 
  • Hearings will be held in the Capitol building, State Office Building and Minnesota Senate Building. 
  • Public events and rallies will take place both inside the Capitol and on the Capitol grounds. 

 

The building is open to the public 

  • The Capitol Complex tunnel system is open.
  • All passenger elevators are open.
