Organization Summary:

Minnesota Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (MAND) is an affiliate of the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics. With approximately 1,600 members, it is the largest professional organization of nutrition health professionals in Minnesota. Membership is limited to Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDs and RDNs), and Diet Technicians, Registered (DTRs), those eligible for these classifications, students, and retired members. As you might expect, our members work in every health care setting – hospitals, home care, long term care, and clinics. But their leadership extends to many other areas of work — schools, business and industry, clinical research, community health and wellness, WIC, maternal and infant nutrition, eating disorders, food shelves, grocery stores, U of MN & Extension, Department of Health, sports nutrition, fitness, SHIP, Farm to School, Diabetes Prevention Programs, private practice, among others. This breadth of reach and experience gives our members a broad base of understanding and influence on food and nutrition issues impacting Minnesotans.

Primary Duties:

The ED manages the association operations and oversees key programs and initiatives for MAND, provides support services to MAND’s 17-member Board, serves as resource for MAND’s 5 regional representatives who are on the Board, and responds to member requests. The ED also supports the work of the MAND Foundation. This is a part-time, work-at-home position with flexible hours. The number one priority for the ED is customer service. Since MAND is a member-based organization, it is important that the ED provides timely and accurate information to members and leaders. Much of this occurs via daily emails, periodic phone calls, meetings and e-news and social media. Main responsibilities are accounting (check writing, reconciliation via QuickBooks); keeping the MAND website updated via WordPress; and communicating with members via MailChimp e-blasts, e-newsletters and via social media. Other responsibilities include scheduling meetings, minutes, and assisting with regional educational and networking events.

Experience:

• Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts or higher • Experience in an administrative, managerial or program management capacity • Ability to provide leadership and vision to guide projects and initiatives • Exercises independent initiative and judgement subject to policies and procedures established by the Board • Outstanding organizational and communication skills with ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a broad range of areas important to MAND • Financial/accounting experience is necessary. Quickbooks experience is a plus. • WordPress experience is a plus. • Health profession background is a plus.

MAND has a wide spectrum of members from early careerists, to seasoned professionals, to retirees. Our members work in a variety of healthcare and health-related settings. The MAND leaders are engaged and enthusiastic and are highly supportive of their ED. A new ED will need to work closely with the board to determine the right delineation of tasks and responsibilities depending on the skillset of the ED. The outgoing ED is committed to providing thorough training to the new ED for a positive onboarding experience.
