Hours: M-F, 8:30-5:00 pm; occasional nights and weekends for special events 

Primary Duties:

The Communications and Development Associate is responsible for supporting the overall efforts of the fund development team. This involves marketing and communications efforts, event management, donor cultivation, tracking of donations, and database management. The Communications and Development Associate must be an individual who has the ability to multi-task well and perform a variety of duties in several areas of the business. Organization and attention to detail are vital to this position, along with excellent writing skills, computer proficiency, and strength in communication and relationship-building, both externally and internally. The Communications and Development Associate will play a key role in driving our success through successful events, fundraising, and effective communications and marketing.
•Manage and coordinate logistics for annual Shine Celebration and spring luncheon
• Generate and send invitations, coordinate mailing lists, manage registration and guest lists
• Assist in planning events, including Silent and Live Auctions, and managing online bidding platform
• Identify and solicit potential partners and sponsorships for events
• Coordinate with multiple vendors
Individual Donor Solicitations and Reporting • Cultivate existing donors in the $1-$999 range
• Create and implement a direct mail solicitation plan with 3-4 mailings each year to increase gifts and pledges
• Oversee creation of print materials (brochures, pledge cards, etc.) to further fundraising effectiveness
• Develop and execute solicitation follow up plans including thank you calls, updating thank-you letters regularly, pledge reminders and other techniques to optimize giving and pledge fulfillment rates
• Generate regular reports to review effectiveness of appeals
Prospect Development and Research
• Collaborate with Way to Grow staff to identify prospects and retain database information
• Conduct prospect research through available online tools and foundation 990s
Operations and Technical Support
• Perform accurate and ongoing gift entry to maintain integrity in the donor database (Bloomerang)
• Generate reports in donor database to support fund development goals and strategies
• Work with data team to ensure effectiveness of Way to Grow’s data and reporting
Print & Digital Communications
• Manage print and online communications including writing and copyediting, producing mailing lists, setting production schedules, and managing vendor relationships effectively
• Work closely with graphic designer on material production
• Maintain communications calendar to ensure deadlines are met
• Support website updates
• Plan online campaign for Give to the Max Day and others as assigned
• Track and analyze effectiveness of print and digital communications and social media
Professional Development
• Enhance development skills through classes and seminars in fundraising, marketing, etc.
• Build on professional networks through active membership in professional association
• Assume other duties as assigned

• Thorough knowledge and experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
• Experience with donor databases
• Minimum of three full-time years in a business environment, working in event planning, public relations and fundraising
