Organization Summary:

Minnesota Independence College and Community  (MICC) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit vocational and life skills training program for young adults with learning differences and autism spectrum disorders (ASD). Since our founding in 1996, MICC has remained dedicated to helping our students make successful transitions towards independent living and financial self-sufficiency. Using our MICC Curriculum, our students learn in their own apartments, at the grocery store, in the workplace, at restaurants, and on public transportation—any practical environment where life skills are needed.


We believe our students can live independent, self-sufficient, whole lives. Having learned the skills to open doors previously closed to them, the future of our students is limitless. We are not simply a three-year experience; we are a lifelong partner to an individual who learns differently.


Located in Richfield, our MICC Community, MICC College and MICC Summer Program attract an internationally diverse student body and help them achieve independence.

Primary Duties:

At Minnesota Independence College and Community (MICC) students discover their strengths, identify their challenges, and develop strategies for living successfully on their own after graduation.  As a non-profit, MICC relies heavily on our database to collect information and streamline communication.  As a Program Administration Intern you would be responsible for supporting program implementation refinement, data base entry, maintenance, and other data needs.

·          Serve as an intern to support data clean up within our database system

·          Help to define the process and procedures to optimize our database system.

·          Assist in implementing best practices for data management within the department

·          Demonstrate sound judgement and critical thinking skills

·          Maintain effective and professional communication with individuals inside and outside of MICC

·          Maintain confidentiality and promote respect for all MICC students, graduates, staff, families and others

·          Other duties as assigned

Areas of responsibility

Data Management

·          Support the audit of database queries and reports, eliminate and streamline as necessary

·          Review and scrub database data as required to maintain accurate information

·          Support the design of a maintenance plan for our database

·          Support the redesign and development of data collection tools.


 Comfort in database system(s) and data entry and a minimum of one year of college experience. Desire to work in an environment that supports individuals with learning differences and autism spectrum disorders a plus.

Skills and Abilities

·          High degree of comfort and confidence managing electronic data and using MS Office and internet search

·          Commitment to accuracy and strong attention to detail

·          Possess personal qualities of integrity, credibility and good judgment

·          Maintain confidentiality of organizational, employee, family and student information

·          Demonstrate professionalism in work performance and communication with others
