St. Anthony East Neighborhood Association (SAENA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that is dedicated to building relationships with community members of St. Anthony East neighborhood and empower them to invest and engage with their neighborhood. SAENA seeks a qualified community organizer to enthusiastically conduct engagement and outreach efforts to build relationships with neighborhood stakeholders.

Primary Duties:

The Outreach Programs Coordinator will take a lead role in drafting and disseminating communications to stakeholders across multiple platforms. They will assist community members, board members, and other staff in project development and capacity building by coordinating meetings and direct outreach efforts such as door-knocking and flyering, as well as executing consistent follow-up. The OPC will work with staff and board members to increase the effectiveness of neighborhood committees and identify opportunities to leverage available funding and deepen impact in the neighborhood.

The Outreach Programs Coordinator is a full-time regular position at 40 hours a week. Evening and weekends are required. The position reports directly to the Executive Director.  The Coordinator responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Outreach and Engagement -- 40%

  • Lead coordination of outreach efforts including door knocking, flyering, and events/meetings/group discussions
  • Articulate needs identified by community members in order to inform organizational strategies for addressing them
  • Identify and act on opportunities for SAENA to collaborate with other organizations Develop and implement innovative strategies for community engagement
  • Build relationships with underrepresented populations (renters, seniors, etc.) and identify ways the organization can serve them
  • Assist the Executive Director and board members with planning, and execution of community events 

Committee Support -- 30%

  • Coordinate and staff monthly Park Committee meetings, recruit new committee members, coordinate committee initiatives, and project management of park improvements
  • Coordinate membership logistics, communications, and operations for community garden
  • Prepare meeting materials including agendas, minutes, sign-in sheets, handouts, etc.
  • Execute necessary meeting follow-up communications or actions in a timely manner

Communications and Marketing -- 20%

  • Create flyers and other outreach materials with graphic designer
  • Assist in developing communications plans for events and aid in implementation
  • Manage social media accounts, e-newsletter, and website content

Other Duties as Assigned-- 10%

  • Assist with various tasks alongside other staff that are necessary in a small team office environment that include but are not limited to: answering the phone, greeting visitors, digital and physical file management /organization, office supply management, regular organizing of office space

Experience:

Successful candidates for this position will possess:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Previous experience door knocking in residential areas
  • Experience with community organizing and facilitating groups
  • Strong problem solving skills and attention to detail
  • The ability to self-start and work independently as well as collaboratively in a small team environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience utilizing social media platforms in professional settings
  • Basic knowledge of gardening
  • Understanding and experience with project management including deadlines and budgets
  • Working proficiency in verbal and written Spanish
  • Customer service/service industry experience

  • SAENA offers generous paid vacation, sick time, and holidays. 
  • Physical effort includes lifting or carrying limited to 30 pounds intermittently. Walking long distances, walking up stairs, and talking for extended periods of time are a frequent part of the job. Work will require extended use of a computer keyboard and monitor. Work is performed in an open format and moderately quiet environment.
