ABOUT JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT OF THE UPPER MIDWEST (JAUM)

We are the passionate people behind a movement that seeks to educate and inspire young people to succeed in a global economy.  JAUM supports JA operations throughout North Dakota, Minnesota and western Wisconsin.  JAUM annually reaches over 165,000 students each year. Through age-appropriate curricula, JA programs begin at the elementary school level, teaching children how they can impact the world around them as individuals, workers and consumers. JA programs continue through the middle grades and high school, focusing on the key content areas of entrepreneurship, work readiness, and financial literacy.
 
This position will be located in our new James R and Patricia Hemak Experiential Learning Center in the Midway Area of St. Paul MN and will assist with the opening of our second Experiential Learning Lab.  Candidates must love working with youth and enjoy a fast pace working environment.

Hours: 10 - 15 Hours per Week 
 

Primary Duties:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operation of Capstone (JA BizTown and JA Finance Park) Programs
  1. Assist with facilitating the Capstone school visits. 
  2. Stock, set up and clean the Capstone facility after each school visit.
  3. Ensure facility is always clean and ready for visitors.
  4. Understand the Capstone software systems and equipment.
  5. Work with Capstone team to create content and implement summer camp programs.
  6. Other duties as assigned.
Volunteers
  1. Assist with training and supporting volunteers of Capstone programs.
  2. Ensure volunteers have filled out registration and code of conduct standards forms.
Planning
  1. Assist in setting materials and technology for our learning simulation.
  2. Assist in maintaining Capstone storerooms.
  3. Copy materials as needed for shops, volunteers and teachers.
Partnerships
  1. Work with all Capstone and JA staff to ensure a positive experience for students, teachers and volunteers.
  2. Have knowledge and understanding of all Capstone operations.
  3. Assist VP, Capstone Director, and Capstone Team with various tasks.

Required:
  1. Experience working with ethnically diverse populations

  4. Professional presence
  5. Computer literacy  
Other Assets:
  1. An educational/instructional background
  2. Fluency in Spanish, Hmong, or Somali language
  3. Business and entrepreneurial experience
