Organization Summary:

Find Your Power (FYP), is a startup nonprofit organization whose mission is to empower underrepresented women worldwide by expanding their access to fundamental resources and the Internet.

Hours: 8-12 hours per week  

Primary Duties:

Primary Duties: Find Your Power is currently looking for a person with WordPress experience to manage and maintain the Find Your Power WordPress website by using technical and non-technical skills in order to meet organization’s requirements.


• Improve current website by designing and adding new content or functionality

• Work with logo/brand designer to find WordPress theme

• Design and build webpage layout

• Demonstrate draft webpages and improve based on feedback

• Test the designed website to make sure it works and solve any coding problems

• Add, maintain and update website content

• Meet relevant legal requirements such as freedom of information, accessibility standards and privacy


Experience: Relevant experience in WordPress website design, development, and programming is required.

Minimum requirements:

• Bachelor degree in website design, computer science or multimedia production

• Website information architecture knowledge is a plus • Basic understanding of HTML and CSS

• Knowledge and skills in multimedia design, programming and technology

• Skills in design and layout

• Skills in image creation for web-based application of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash and Dreamweaver also helpful

• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing

• Ability to take direction and work well with others when necessary

Additional Info: Special attention will be given to candidates with a desire to empower women, work with an international team, and to learn more about international nonprofits. Anyone with travel, volunteer or work experience in a developing country or who has specifically been to South Africa would be especially fitting

Location and Hours:

• May work from home but required to attend a weekly meeting and possibly others as necessary

• Own car is not required, but must have access to reliable transportation and be able to get to different locations if necessary

• Must be able to work during the business hours of Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm. Hours will vary depending on individual's schedule and availability

• Length of service, 3 to 6 months (flexible) based on mutual fit and desire to stay on
