Cornerstone is a $4.8M agency with approximately 90 employees. We provide specialized services within eleven cities, including Bloomington, Brooklyn Center, Brooklyn Park, Crystal, Edina, Eden Prairie, Maple Grove, Richfield, Robbinsdale, St. Louis Park, and Minneapolis. Our organization serves individuals impacted by domestic violence, sexual violence and human trafficking, with office locations in Bloomington, Minneapolis, and Brooklyn Center. Cornerstone has developed one of the most comprehensive service continuums for victims of violence in Minnesota. Our services are designed to move individuals and families from crisis to safety, stabilization and security. Last year approximately 4,000 individuals accessed Cornerstone programming. Primary Duties:

POSITION DESCRIPTION The Human Resources Assistant position acts as first point of contact for the Human Resources department; supporting recruitment of non-exempt and exempt positions; posting jobs on internal and external job boards; conducting orientation; following up and requesting hiring updates; responding to recruiting process questions from managers; preparing and mailing offer letters; entering payroll information into spreadsheet and HRIS; and assisting in administering employee benefits. The Human Resources Assistant will also provide administrative assistance to the Executive Director with assigned administrative duties. Experience:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS * Provides job candidates by postings open position on internal (Cornerstone social media, CAS Connect, email, HR Boards, etc.) and various external job boards; serves as main contact during pre and post-hiring process ensuring timely response to questions from hiring managers, new hires, and candidates; following up and requesting hiring updates from hiring managers; ensuring timely scheduling of new hire orientation; ensuring receipt of all reviewed and interviewed candidates’ resumes (but not hired) for Affirmative Action reports. * Welcomes and orients new employees by providing orientation information packets; reviewing company policies; gathering withholding and other payroll information; explaining and obtaining signatures for benefit programs. * Prepares materials for HR related job fairs; recommending and representing Cornerstone at related job fairs. * Assists in participates in payroll process by providing payroll information; accurately entering payroll information into spreadsheet and HRIS - calculating PTO and vacation hours; calculating pay (vacation, pay adjustments, merit increases, etc.); maintaining entered information; forwarding any received documentation to accounting. * Responds to basic benefits questions and forwards complex inquiries to human resources manager. * Assists in administering medical, dental, and life insurance; 401K; and disability programs by advising employees of eligibility; providing application information; helping with form completion; verifying submission; responding to benefits questions from employees; and organizing the annual open enrollment. * Monitors unemployment claims. Discuss claims with HR Manager. May review claims; substantiates documentation; or consults with Unemployment State Trust-Equifax division. * Maintains employee information and confidentiality; records new hires, transfers, terminations, changes in job classifications, merit increases; tracking vacation, sick, and personal time into HRIS. Ensures accurate and complete employee files with all required materials; ensures compliant. * Promotes exit surveys forms upon receipt of termination notice; ensures completion; promptly forward responses to human resources manager. * Documents human resources actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records. * Assists in compiling information for Affirmative Action Program; annual EEO-1 report; and maintain other records, reports and logs to conform with EEO rules/regulations. * Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications. * Supports Human Resources Manager in maintaining organizational chart and HRIS system. * Supports Executive Director with assigned administrative duties. * Other duties that may be assigned deemed necessary. REQUIREMENTS * Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or 2-3 years’ experience supporting Human Resources department. * Excellent verbal, written, and in-person communication skills. * Excellent computer skills and superior knowledge of all MS Office Suite programs; accurate reporting skills. * Excellent planning, organization, interpersonal, and customer service skills. * Patience with routine and attention to detail; proactive and process-oriented working style. * Ability to multi-talk, meet pressing deadlines and anticipate needs; Ability to maintain confidentiality; Ability to work independently and autonomously * Relationship builder; A team player with all departments COMPETENCIES * Excellent verbal, written, and in-person communication skills. * Champion in promoting respect and teambuilding. * Broad knowledge and understand of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
