We provide specialized services within eleven cities, including Bloomington, Brooklyn Center, Brooklyn Park, Crystal, Edina, Eden Prairie, Maple Grove, Richfield, Robbinsdale, St. Louis Park, and Minneapolis. Our organization serves individuals impacted by domestic violence, sexual violence and human trafficking, with office locations in Bloomington, Minneapolis, and Brooklyn Center. Cornerstone has developed one of the most comprehensive service continuums for victims of violence in Minnesota. Our services are designed to move individuals and families from crisis to safety, stabilization and security. Last year approximately 4,000 individuals accessed Cornerstone programming. Hours: 20 + hours per week 

Primary Duties:

Cornerstone’s School-Based Services offer education and violence prevention programming at Hennepin County area middle and high schools to increase students’ awareness of violence, strengthen their ability to resolve challenging situations and be proactive about participating in leadership opportunities to prevent violence. Cornerstone’s classroom educational curriculum is a best practice model designed to help students learn about how violence may be impacting their lives and their relationships with others. It is also focused on violence prevention and education, with classroom topics that include the following: dating abuse, sexual assault and harassment, anger, bullying, cyber bullying, gender stereotypes, LGBTQIA issues, and sex trafficking. Time Requirements: 16 hours a week if needing more than 16+ hours a week for internship placement, please inquire with volunteer coordinator. Thurs/Fri– 7am-3pm. This internship is designed for students receiving college credit and is not paid. Time off: Please let your supervisor know if you need time off (vacation, sick, etc) Assist School Based Services Educators in facilitating violence prevention presentations within middle and high school health classrooms Becoming knowledgeable about the root causes of interpersonal, domestic, dating, and sexual violence and best-practice prevention strategies. Maintain professional relationships with staff, students, and school staff Attend staff and volunteer meetings, in-service, trainings, etc. as required Complete other assignments as required


The desire to work with young people to provide education and skill building opportunities that lead to violence reduction and prevention. Good public speaking and group facilitation skills, or a desire to learn these skill Flexibility, initiative, work cooperatively with others Ability to relate to people of different economic, cultural, racial, and social backgrounds Emotional maturity to work with different economic, cultural, racial, and social backgrounds Ability to adhere to confidentiality and maintain professional boundaries with clients Ability to provide own transportation to presentation locations – Hennepin County area schools.
