Cornerstone is a $4.8M agency with approximately 95 employees. We provide specialized services within eleven cities, including Bloomington, Brooklyn Center, Brooklyn Park, Crystal, Edina, Eden Prairie, Maple Grove, Richfield, Robbinsdale, St. Louis Park, and Minneapolis. Our organization serves individuals impacted by domestic violence, sexual violence and human trafficking, with office locations in Bloomington, Minneapolis, and Brooklyn Center. Cornerstone has developed one of the most comprehensive service continuums for victims of violence in Minnesota. Our services are designed to move individuals and families from crisis to safety, stabilization and security. Last year approximately 4,000 individuals accessed Cornerstone programming. Primary Duties:

This position is responsible for the recruitment, orientation and placement of individual volunteers, as well recruiting and working with groups of volunteers to build and strengthen relationships with businesses, civic organizations and religious groups. As a critical part of Cornerstone’s Development team, this position will help develop and execute fundraising and community engagement strategies.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Assess the volunteer needs of Cornerstone and develop an annual volunteer program plan
  • Coordinate volunteer groups to host events benefiting the families that Cornerstone serves
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with businesses, civic organizations and religious groups.
  • Present information about Cornerstone’s volunteer opportunities at corporate volunteer fairs and other events as needed
  • Coordinate corporate and faith community donation drives
  • Assist maintenance department by coordinating volunteers groups to complete maintenance projects
  • Plan and coordinate the annual Volunteer Appreciation Event
  • Assist with the organization of Cornerstone’s annual Holiday Shop
  • Identify and help recruit sponsors and table captains for Cornerstone’s annual fundraising event

Experience:

Experience in volunteer supervision, training and volunteer program management.  Experience in working with diverse populations.  Must have strong communication and organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize tasks, be self-directed and flexible. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Word and Excel. Experience working with Raiser’s Edge and Volgistics preferred, but not required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Demonstrated project management skills.  Knowledge and understanding of domestic violence, sexual violence and human trafficking preferred, but not required.  Minimum experience of two years working in a nonprofit setting.

If such a situation should arise the employee should notify their supervisor to find help with lifting any item regardless of weight if the object to be lifted is awkward or difficult to lift in any way.
