 Cornerstone is a $4.8M agency with approximately 95 employees. We provide specialized services within eleven cities, including Bloomington, Brooklyn Center, Brooklyn Park, Crystal, Edina, Eden Prairie, Maple Grove, Richfield, Robbinsdale, St. Louis Park, and Minneapolis. Our organization serves individuals impacted by domestic violence, sexual violence and human trafficking, with office locations in Bloomington, Minneapolis, and Brooklyn Center. Cornerstone has developed one of the most comprehensive service continuums for victims of violence in Minnesota. Our services are designed to move individuals and families from crisis to safety, stabilization and security. Last year approximately 4,000 individuals accessed Cornerstone programming. Hours: 20 hours per week  
 

Primary Duties:

Cornerstone possess a strong youth and family-centered philosophy. Our commitment to ending domestic abuse, sexual abuse, and human trafficking is demonstrated by the comprehensive programming we deliver to children, youth, and families.

We understand that domestic abuse, sexual abuse, and human trafficking profoundly affects youth. We are committed to the safety, well-being of families and youth, and supporting them to end the generational cycle of abuse.

It is our goal to work towards ending this cycle by reaching out to youth early in the learning process to teach healthy relationship skills. We also want to assure that parents know the important role they play in helping their children heal. If children receive appropriate professional services early on, the potential for positive behavioral change is significantly increased.

Time Requirements:

20 hours a week if needing more than 20+ hours a week for internship placement, please inquire with volunteer coordinator.

Mon/Tues/Wed/Thurs – 10am-6pmThis internship is designed for students receiving college credit and is not paid.  Time off:  Please let your supervisor know if you need time off (vacation, sick, etc)

Responsibilities:

 

Assist Youth Counselors in client intake, assessment, and program services

 

Provide supervised one-to-one youth counseling and assist in facilitating support groups

 

Plan and facilitate program activities and provided childcare as needed

 

Maintain professional relationships with clients, staff, and volunteers

 

Attend staff and volunteer meetings, in-service, trainings, etc. as required

 

Complete other assignments as required 


Experience:

 The desire to work with children and youth who have been involved in situations of physical, emotional, sexual abuse and human trafficking

Good communication, listening, and advocacy skills

Flexibility, initiative, work cooperatively with others

Ability to relate to people of different economic, cultural, racial, and social backgrounds

Emotional maturity to work with different economic, cultural, racial, and social backgrounds

Ability to adhere to confidentiality and maintain professional boundaries with clients 

Possess car, license, and maintain automobile insurance

Pass Criminal Background Check
