Cornerstone is a $4.8M agency with approximately 90 employees. We provide specialized services within eleven cities, including Bloomington, Brooklyn Center, Brooklyn Park, Crystal, Edina, Eden Prairie, Maple Grove, Richfield, Robbinsdale, St. Louis Park, and Minneapolis. Our organization serves individuals impacted by domestic violence, sexual violence and human trafficking, with office locations in Bloomington, Minneapolis, and Brooklyn Center. Cornerstone has developed one of the most comprehensive service continuums for victims of violence in Minnesota. Our services are designed to move individuals and families from crisis to safety, stabilization and security. Last year approximately 4,000 individuals accessed Cornerstone programming. Hours: 40 hours per week 

Primary Duties:

The Administrative Assistant will be primarily responsible for two critical functions within the organization:  providing clinical billing support and providing general administrative support through accounting and data entry.  

Accounting & General Administrative Support

  • Provide bookkeeping, general ledger account reconciliation and data entry
  • Assist in tracking information for Cornerstone’s rental properties by recording rent rolls, preparing files for lease and drafting appropriate letters
  • Process credit card donations
  • Take lead in organizing accounting files within organization
  • Return calls to vendors regarding sales, etc.
  • Process bi-weekly accounts payable
  • Reconcile bank statements monthly
  • Assist in annual audit preparation
  • Assist in budget preparation (CAS annual, government and contributed)
  • Work closely with General Crime Victim Emergency Fund/General Crime Advocate to validate and process Emergency Crime Victim Funds Applications within the required time
  • Other duties as assigned

Electronic Health Records

Provide administrative support for Empathic billing system/services

Program Expectations:

Works collaboratively across internal programs

Attends program meetings/trainings as needed or requested

Organizational Expectations:

Participates on internal CAS committees as assigned

Attends all staff meetings & trainings; position specific

Provides support and attends Cornerstone events throughout the year, ie volunteer recognition, conference, Holiday Shop, DV Awareness Month, etc.

Provide support to a minimum of one Cornerstone fundraising event per year

Support CAS marketing initiatives i.e. CAS/Elevator speech

Promote CAS mission & philosophy

Displays high ethical/professional standards

Representative of CAS on external committees as assigned


Associate’s degree in accounting, computer science, or related education. Some experience helpful but we will train. Excellent communication skills, knowledge of Microsoft applications, the ability to prioritize and effectively manage multiple projects and deadlines are a must. Knowledge of the MIP accounting system preferred.

 Other qualifications include but are not limited to:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Word and Excel, and utilization in internet search engines
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent Organizational skills and ability to both work independently and part of a team
  • Detail oriented
