Organization Summary:

Since 1977, the White Bear Area Emergency Food Shelf has played a crucial role in providing food and support for neighbors who are hungry in the White Bear Community.  Programs and services include Monthly Market Shopping, Weekend KID Packs, Mobile Markets, Senior Markets, Community Resource Support, and an Emergency Fund.

Job Type: Intern - Unpaid Salary: Volunteer- Unpaid
Hours: All interns are asked to make at least a semester commitment of flexible weekly shifts during our open hours. 
 

Primary Duties:

WBAEFS Community Engagement Interns are responsible for welcoming and helping our neighbors, support in marketing and fundraising campaigns and coordinate community outreach opportunities. Interns are also responsible for updating neighbor information in our database, answering phones, supporting administrative team, and helping at outreach events as needed.


Experience:

·         Affirm the mission of providing food and support to our neighbors in partnership with the communities of the White Bear Area

·         Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)

·         Pass a background check

·         Warm, friendly personality

·         Awareness of personal boundaries with the ability to listen without making judgments or personal suggestions

·         Cultural sensitivity and understanding of serving people in poverty

·         Data entry skills
