Organization Summary:

Cornerstone is a $4.8M agency with approximately 90 employees. We provide specialized services within eleven cities, including Bloomington, Brooklyn Center, Brooklyn Park, Crystal, Edina, Eden Prairie, Maple Grove, Richfield, Robbinsdale, St. Louis Park, and Minneapolis. Our organization serves individuals impacted by domestic violence, sexual violence and human trafficking, with office locations in Bloomington, Minneapolis, and Brooklyn Center. Cornerstone has developed one of the most comprehensive service continuums for victims of violence in Minnesota. Our services are designed to move individuals and families from crisis to safety, stabilization and security. Last year approximately 4,000 individuals accessed Cornerstone programming. We are committed to providing opportunities for others to partner with us in this work and to convey, as a community, zero-tolerance for violence.

Hours: Approximately 16 hours per week 

Primary Duties:

Cornerstone’s continuum of service helps to create communities where individuals and families are safe and children thrive. We advocate, educate and lead the way to social change.


Job Title:  Volunteer Intern

Hours:  240 hours for semester; 15 weeks – approximately 16 hours per week

Reports to:  Volunteer Coordinator

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

·        Helping manage volunteers and clients for Tuesday night dinners

·         Attend Development meetings on Wednesday’s

·         Assist with special events

·         Help manage other volunteer activities and groups

·         Learn the front desk to assess needs and direct calls for service. 

·         Weekly Day One Call Center support

·        Shadow criminal and civil justice advocate, childcare and youth programming.

·         Assist with day to day projects of the agency including donation management, administrative tasks and other duties as assigned



  • Strong communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally with Cornerstone’s staff, Board members, donors, and volunteers
  • Willingness to work as part of a team
  • Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and multi-task
  • Detail-oriented
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite
