Primary Duties:

Hennepin History Museum is searching for multiple volunteers to assist in our Reading Room during open museum hours.

Responsibilities include greeting visitors and providing information about archive resources in the Reading Room and assisting individuals in using the resources. Archival tasks may include scanning and cataloging archival materials, and doing research for museum projects.


Good verbal communication skills (comfortable greeting and talking with the public).

Ability to work independently.

Organizational skills.

Problem solving skills.

We have shifts open daily: Tuesdays 10 am-2 pm, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays 1-5 pm. We would prefer you are able to work at least 2 shifts per month (more if possible). We will give preference to those who can commit to a regular schedule each month.

This position is ideal for anyone who loves history and/or meeting the public. You will be the "face" of the museum to our visitors.


Work is primarily in a shared office environment; non-ADA accessible: able to climb stairs, no central air conditioning.
