Primary Duties:

Hennepin History Museum is searching for multiple volunteers to assist the staff at our front desk and help with research projects in the archives.

Responsibilities include helping with front desk tasks, such as answering phones and greeting visitors.  Archival tasks may include scanning and cataloging archival materials, and doing research for museum projects.

Act as a back up Visitor Services staff at the front desk

Greet visitors and volunteers as they enter the museum.

Give explanation of the exhibits and museum.

Answer guest or volunteer questions.

Answer incoming phone calls and take messages for HHM staff.

Archival tasks as assigned



Good verbal communication skills (comfortable greeting and talking with the public).

Ability to work independently.

Organizational skills.

Problem solving skills. 


Additional Info:


We have shifts open each week: Thursdays from 4-8pm, Saturday from 1-5, and Sunday 1-5 pm. We would prefer you are able to work at least 2 shifts per month (more if possible). We will give preference to those who can commit to a regular schedule each month.

This position is ideal for anyone who loves history and/or meeting the public. You will be the "face" of the museum to our visitors.

Work is primarily in a shared office environment; non-ADA accessible: able to climb stairs, no central air conditioning.
