Job Type: Intern - Unpaid Salary: Unpaid Internship
Hours: 10 to 15 hours per week 
 

Primary Duties:

The Volunteer Intern will work with Cornerstone’s Volunteer Coordinator; duties will include:

  • Assist with volunteer group events
  • Assist with management of Tuesday evening volunteer provided meals
  • Assist with Cornerstone fundraiser and events
  • Assist with donation management
  • Attend development and All staff meetings
  • Attend Volunteer/Staff trainings
  • Assist with Volunteer Orientations and Trainings
  • Provide reception backup as needed (which directs clients to appropriate services, must be able to multi-task greeting clients as well as directing trauma impacted clients to myriads of services)
  • Administrative projects for volunteer department
  • Other duties as assigned such as working with children impacted by trauma (after school programming, childcare)

Experience:

 

  • Working with clients impacted by domestic violence, human trafficking and sexual assault
  • Strong communication skills
  • Work with people of different economic, cultural, racial and social backgrounds
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally with Cornerstone’s staff, Board members, donors, and volunteers
  • Willingness to work as part of a team
  • Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and multi-task
  • Detail-oriented
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite

Cornerstone is a $4.8M agency with approximately 90 employees. We provide specialized services within eleven cities, including Bloomington, Brooklyn Center, Brooklyn Park, Crystal, Edina, Eden Prairie, Maple Grove, Richfield, Robbinsdale, St. Louis Park, and Minneapolis. Our organization serves individuals impacted by domestic violence, sexual violence and human trafficking, with office locations in Bloomington, Minneapolis, and Brooklyn Center. Cornerstone has developed one of the most comprehensive service continuums for victims of violence in Minnesota. Our services are designed to move individuals and families from crisis to safety, stabilization and security. Last year approximately 4,000 individuals accessed Cornerstone programming.
