Public Policy Coordinator
NAMI Minnesota (National Alliance on Mental Illness) is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of children and adults with mental illnesses and their families. NAMI Minnesota offers education, support and advocacy. NAMI Minnesota vigorously promotes the development of community mental health programs and services, improved access to services, increased opportunities for recovery, reduced stigma and discrimination, and increased public understanding of mental illness.

This person in this position will assist with NAMI Minnesota's extensive grassroots lobbying efforts including drafting bills, lobbying, monitoring legislative committees and task forces, and preparing materials for members. The person works closely with the executive director in carrying out NAMI's legislative goals, conducting legislative trainings, writing personal stories, supervising public policy interns, writing the weekly legislative update, organizing the grassroots, assisting with press conferences, conducting research, and more.
The individual should have excellent writing and speaking skills, be able to write quickly and translate complex information into easily understandable language. Must have an interest in policies relating to mental health including housing, education, healthcare, human services, criminal justice, employment and higher ed. The position requires long hours during the session including weekends.
Must have own vehicle and be able to drive.
