Minnesota Spay Neuter Assistance Program (MN SNAP)


Organization Summary:

Every year, more than three million animals are euthanized in shelters in the United States, many of which are healthy and adoptable. Minnesota Spay Neuter Assistance Program (MN SNAP) exists to end the suffering and death of companion animals in Minnesota due to pet overpopulation by providing high-quality, affordable and accessible spay and neuter services to owned animals within low-income communities, animals within the rescue and shelter system, and feral cat communities. Since April 2010, MN SNAP has performed more than 65,000 surgeries, which will continue to reduce the influx of homeless pets into shelters and, over time, reduce the number of pets euthanized. MN SNAP works in partnership with its affiliate organization, Blue Sky Veterinary Services, to perform surgeries in a fully outfitted RV and through leased space within Minneapolis Animal Care and Control. MN SNAP recently acquired a facility in North Minneapolis that will soon become its permanent home in the Twin Cities.

Primary Duties:

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Development and Marketing Manager will be a team player with an appetite for a high-energy work environment. The position works directly with multiple stakeholders, including clients, donors, volunteers, staff, board members, animal welfare peer organizations and community partners. The Development and Marketing Manager will build high-quality donor relationships, drive strategic marketing initiatives, manage office and fundraising volunteers, and will act as a good steward of organizational resources. Fundraising responsibilities include, but are not limited to: creating and maintaining donor acquisition, acknowledgement and recognition programs; overseeing donor cultivation event(s); ensuring donor data integrity; and writing and submitting grant proposals. Marketing responsibilities include, but are not limited to: managing social media platforms; writing and designing print and electronic marketing materials, including website, emails and other communications pieces as needed; and raising awareness of spay/neuter and MN SNAP.


The role requires a bachelor’s degree; a minimum of three to five years of experience in fundraising and marketing; excellent verbal and written communication skills; superior organizational, analytical and project management skills; impeccable attention to detail; and a demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision. The candidate will have a working knowledge of print and digital graphic design, social media and other online technologies, and will be proficient in a Macintosh environment. The ideal candidate will also have Salesforce experience and will be able to write and edit using Associated Press style. A passion for animals and animal welfare is a must.
