It’s no secret storytelling is a powerful tool every nonprofit can use to get their organization’s message out. The next step is to consider storytelling using what we know about human behavior. In this session, we will move beyond simple storytelling methods to look at how we can better meet our audience where they’re at in order to more effectively reach and inspire them to act. Attendees will learn how people react to various types of messaging, and strategies for incorporating values-based, persuasive language in their communications plans and channels.

This workshop is part of the 2018 Nonprofit Communicator Workshop Series, Data, Dollars & Decisions: The Science of Communication.

About the Series

NCW Logo

Engagement is crucial in our communications efforts, but likes, mentions, and shares only tell part of the story. They are pixels in a larger picture. Getting your message out to your stakeholders and driving donations are what we’re all working toward. To achieve this year after year, it’s necessary to look beyond just the strategy and in to what motivates these actions. Why do stories resonate with us? Why do we give?

Data, Dollars & Decisions: The Science of Communication, the 2018 Nonprofit Communicators Workshop Series, looks to not only explore the how, but the why. This series of four workshops, presented by the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits, will help you consider messaging and fundraising in the context of the more universal aspects of what influences and activates us.
