Join this workshop to learn all about best practices for nonprofit hiring. The session will cover many of the key aspects of adding a new position or filling a job opening. Topics to be discussed will include each of the steps involved in hiring such as developing a strong job description, screening job applications, conducting interviews and making a job offer. Plus, we’ll dig into the background information that can help your organization avoid potential legal claims such as wage and hour law, classification of employees and flex time. We’ll have time for questions and answers, as well.

Join this session to make sure you’re taking the right steps for a successful and legal job hire.

About the Presenter

Karie K. Barry graduated with a bachelor's in human resource management from Upper Iowa University. She has over eight years of human resource experience including employee law and labor standards, employee investigations, HR records audits, risk assessments for organizations, providing management with effective coaching and training, developing management strategies to resolve problems and implement change, anticipation of upcoming HR changes, and policy development.

Based on Karie’s years of experience in strategic leadership and strong interpersonal skills she takes great pleasure in ongoing professional growth and believe it is a must in this ever-changing field. Karie is a member of Society for Human Resource Management, and is working on her senior professional in human resources certification. She has collaborated with Community Resource Connection, United Way, Northwest Minnesota foundation, and other for-profit companies to provide trainings. Karie’s mantra is: putting the human back into resources.
