Every board of directors can be an effective fundraising board. Is yours?

Join MCN for a one-day-only opportunity to hear from a national governance and fundraising expert, Andy Robinson. This session focuses on two of Andy's favorite themes: board effectiveness and effective fundraising strategies. Put together, this day is sure to inspire you and your board to find new ways to jump-start the board's engagement and value as fundraisers.

If your board isn’t raising all the money it could — indeed, if your board isn’t raising any money at all — you’re not alone. In this workshop, we’ll discuss the reasons why, and outline strategies to turn things around. You’ll leave with several practical, specific ideas for increasing board involvement and effectiveness.
• Redefining fundraising: It’s not just asking for money
• Why people give: The psychology of fundraising
• Building a board fundraising menu
• Helping board members take leadership and hold each other accountable

This is a perfect workshop for teams of senior staff and board members to attend together.

Principles & Practices

In an effort to support nonprofits in fulfilling their missions, this workshop will help to focus your work on the following practices:

  • GOV 5: To demonstrate their personal stake in the organization, board members are expected to volunteer their time, help raise external funds and make personal financial contributions to the organization.
  • FUND 1: A nonprofit’s board of directors has a responsibility to adopt a fundraising plan and systems to ensure that sufficient charitable contributions are raised to meet budgeted objectives.
