This workshop is designed for anyone who serves on or with a board. Participants will learn key functions of a productive board, practical strategies for providing effective board leadership and management, and roles and responsibilities members play to help boards be productive.

In this session, we'll focus on three specific board traps:

  • Lacking Direction and Purpose
  • Filling Seats with the Usual Suspects
  • Going "Off Track"

A workbook with helpful tools and information on these and four other common board traps will be provided.

If three members of an organization attend, the third registration is free. Use the manual form to register and note "special group rate" on the form.

Event Details

Parking: Parking is available in the Northfield Arts Guild lot.

About the Presenter

Beth KallestadBeth Kallestad serves as the leadership and civic engagement educator at University of Minnesota Extension in Southeast, Minnesota. Prior to Extension, Beth served as executive director of the Cannon River Watershed Partnership in Northfield. While there, she led organizational planning efforts and brought partners together from government, businesses and communities to develop strategies to improve the watershed. Beth is an alumnus of an Extension’s Leadership and Civic Engagement program, received training in the Art of Hosting, and was a participant in the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits Leadership Training Cohort in 2009. She thrives on helping people tap into their desire to connect and work well together.
