Going Beyond the New Overtime Rules and Classification Tactics to Make Sound, ROI-Driven Rewards Allocations

On May 18, the U.S. Department of Labor changed the minimum salary levels required to qualify for overtime exemptions. In this session, we’ll familiarize you with the new rules which go into effect on December 1, 2016. We’ll walk you through “simple” responses to adjust to these new rules, like reclassification and wage/salary adjustments. But we’ll take you farther – to address the new requirements from a total rewards perspective to ensure that you’re designing and implementing an integrated human capital investment strategy that effectively allocates resources for not just compensation, but also for benefits and other rewards components like recognition, career development and culture development, so that your organization achieves a continuously improving return on talent investment.

About the Presenter

Keith FreideKeith A. Friede is area vice president, talent & organization development, and North Central Region practice leader at Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. He brings over 20 years of organizational leadership and human resource development experience to his role. His core areas of professional development expertise include leadership and management, presentation skills, and interpersonal communication. Keith is also a leading authority on employee benefits and human resources regulatory requirements. Prior to joining Arthur J. Gallagher & Co., Keith was president of A.E. Roberts Company. Before that, he was an independent HRD consultant, and an internal training and organization development consultant with ITT. Keith holds an M.A. in human resource development from the University of St. Thomas, where he completed ground-breaking research in the area of leadership in virtual organizations. Keith is also an advisor and contributor to the Centre for Applied Leadership.
