Carly Hare, executive director of Native Americans in Philanthropy, will highlight the rich history that Native peoples have in sharing their wealth and caring for their communities. Hear stories of how reciprocity in our communities flourishes from traditional practices through establishment of contemporary foundations in Indian Country with new wealth. This session will include data and examples of tribal giving programs and native foundations.
Carly Hare joined Native Americans in Philanthropy as the executive director in November 2010 after having been a voting member for five years, serving on the institute planning committee for three years, and on the NAP board of directors for a year. Before her work with Native Americans in Philanthropy, Carly held the position of the director of development for the Native American Rights Fund from 2009-2010. She served as director of programs for The Community Foundation Serving Boulder County for five years. In 2006, Carly was selected as an Emerging Leader in International Philanthropy Fellow through the Center of Philanthropy and Civil Society at the City University of New York. Carly’s Pawnee name is <i kita u hoo <i ]a hiks which translates into the leader of men. Carly is a member of the Pawnee Nation of Oklahoma and a descendant of the Yankton Sioux Tribe.
