In the 2012 general election, Minnesota voters will make critical public policy decisions on statewide constitutional amendments and local ballot measures. The result of these ballot questions could have a direct impact on nonprofit organizations and the communities they serve.
In this training you’ll learn how your nonprofit can take action and benefit from engaging the public on ballot questions. We will focus on topics including:
- how 501(c)3 nonprofits can be effective advocates for or against ballot questions;
- working with your board to take a position;
- identifying your assets and strengths in this area;
- how to follow basic reporting requirements; and
- ways to connect with current issue campaigns.
Additional information relevant to organizations that spend more than $5,000 on their ballot question will be offered at our April 24 and July 11 trainings, when we’ll cover Minnesota State Campaign Finance Board reporting requirements in detail.
