Registration Policies & Refunds
MCN values broad participation at our events and attempts to create an inclusive environment for all attendees. MCN wants to ensure a smooth registration process and event experience for all participants. If you have questions about your registration, please check to see if you can find an answer here. Our promise is to provide exceptional programs. If any MCN program does not fulfill our promise, we will make the situation right or refund your money.
To ensure enough seats and materials for all participants, advance registration for all MCN events and trainings is required. Advance registration closes at noon the day before the event and several days in advance for conferences. Some MCN events will have limited walk-in registration available.
While we attempt to select a room based on projected attendance, there are times when we must close registration due to reaching the room capacity. Therefore, registration may close earlier than stated above due to reaching our maximum capacity.
For events with registration fees, MCN requires payment upon event registration. Registering for an event (including registration via acceptance of a scholarship) constitutes an agreement to pay the registration fee, whether or not the registrant actually attends the event. No refunds or credits will be granted for non-attendance, with limited exceptions described below.
Substitutions, Early Refunds and Event Credits
MCN strives to keep event registration fees reasonably priced. We determine registration fees based on event capacity and event expenses. If you register for an event and do not attend, MCN will still pay for your materials/seating. For many events, we lose revenue from others who may have wanted to attend.
If you cannot attend, you are encouraged to send someone in your place. If possible in advance of the event, please contact MCN's registrar via email and let us know who will attend in your place. Splitting a registration between two or more people is prohibited.
At least one week before the event (two weeks for conferences), if you decide that you won’t be able to join us: There are early refunds, minus a $35 processing fee, for registration fees of $51 or more if requested in writing and submitted to MCN's program coordinator at least one week prior to the event. There are no refunds for registration fees of $50 or less. And there are no refunds for any events for cancellations less than one week before the event (two weeks for conferences).
If bad weather prevents you from attending an event: Contact MCN’s program coordinator as soon as possible and no later than 5:00 p.m. on the following business day, to request alternative arrangements, such as a credit for a future event. No refunds will be issued.
MCN may offer a credit to event registrants for emergencies such as the death of an immediate family member, a sudden hospitalization or severe illness, or similar situation (but not for unexpected schedule changes, conflicts or inconveniences). If you have an emergency, please contact MCN’s program coordinator as soon as possible and no later than 5:00 p.m. on the following business day to request alternative arrangements such as a credit for a future event. No refunds will be issued.
In some cases, MCN will offer an event credit. Credits will be valued at the price paid by the registrant, adjusted for group registrations; event credits expire within 120 days. MCN reserves the right to deny requests for an event credit.
Your registration fee is non-transferable to other workshops or publications, with limited exceptions as described above.
Event Cancellation by MCN
MCN reserves the right to cancel an event due to low enrollment, inclement weather or other circumstances which would make the event non-viable. If MCN cancels an event, registrants will be offered a full refund.
Should circumstances arise that result in the postponement of an event, registrations will be transferred automatically to the new future date and registrants will be notified of the postponement. Registrants will also have the option to receive a full refund if requested within one week of receiving notice of the new future date of the event.
In the case of cancellation or postponement, MCN will send an email to each registrant no later than 4:00 p.m. on the day prior to the event and will post the cancellation/postponement on our website Events Calendar.
Photos and Recordings Notice
By registering for an event, you agree to be photographed, included in video footage, or otherwise recorded for MCN's promotional purposes.
MCN strives to ensure that our events are accessible to all individuals. If you have accommodation requests, such as sign language interpreters or other accessibility requirements, please contact MCN's program coordinator via email at least two weeks prior to the event. Although we will attempt to meet all accessibility requests, late requests may not be fulfilled.
In some cases, earlier Registration Policy deadlines may be instituted for conferences and large events. Please visit the individual event web pages for details about special registration policies for any MCN conference or large event.
MCN Policy on Religious Observances & Inclusive Events
The Minnesota Council of Nonprofits seeks to create an inclusive environment for individuals to participate in MCN’s educational events, committee meetings and public gatherings. As such, MCN seeks to increase access to our events by taking into consideration the dates, venues and menus of our events.
